The Animals Family is Growing

2014-11-14 Artistic
The living beings creation process reaches maturity.

The project artistic demand implies a great care in the conception.
For each animal we think about design, sound, animation, behavior, loots, action zone and so on …

Tiger 3D Model

Aware that the richness of the world will also depend on the quantity of creatures, the artistic team works on optimizing each step of the production process.

Modelsheet (Reymantha), modelling (Merakline), rig (Martino), animation (Bastien), texturing (Reymantha) are gaining in accuracy and efficiency day after day. Everything is done to expand Planets³’s wildlife.

Animals 3D Models

All the team at Cubical Drift is, as eager as you, to see all these animals roam freely on the planets.

The animal models, especially the Tiger, look great. I'm very proud that I've backed for this projekt and absolutely sure that it will be a great game finally.

Something I thought, is the animals textures going to be dynamic depending on what biome they are in? Like a bear in the temperate region would be brown but in the arctic being white? Allowing this to happen could make it easier to make more varied animals without a lot of extra animal textures.

@ 2-Zons. Actualy it's a 3ds Max plugin we developed "in house". Anyway you could be surprised by the game itself as an editor ;) The way we sculpt this models is not as far as how you will sculpt in Planets┬│. Thank you for your support.

Are you guys using some sort of voxel editor to create the models? It cant be a standard voxel editor with all those partial (angled) voxels. I can't imagine any regular 3D modelling program (3D SMax, Maya, etc) would be the most efficient way of creating these models. Have you developed something in house, or are you planning on doing so? It would be awesome if you included that editor with the game. It seems that using the game itself as an editor would be very inefficient compared to a dedicated well made editor.

Excellent work on these models though. Love the updates. You have some real talented artists on the team. Keep up the good work.
